A new plastic polymer degrading with the light
A team of researchers of cornwell University has developped a polymer able to cope the sea plastic pollution. The new polymer degrades quikly in presence of light. The mechanical properties of this plastic makes it usable also in the fishing industry. The fishing gears, continuously lost in the seas, are very polluting objects. To have available a polymer able to biodegrade quickly might contribute to reduce plastic pollution of the sea.
Think about that a fishing line might stay in the environment hundred of years. This study is available on the Journal of the American Society https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jacs.0c01768
