CONAI: The waste recycling increases

The Conai consortium has widespread the data on the trend of the collection and recovery of packaging. It is about 9 millions and 560 thousand tonns on the 13 millions and 655 thousand released for consumption.

An increase of 3,1% with respect to 2018, driven by an increase of 6,2% of the recycling of waste deriving from  urban collection.

The president of the Consortium Giorgio Quagliuolo underlines that “The whole system has overtaken the recycling target that Europe requires within 2025”; “Circular Economy in Italy works properly and prevails for the effectiveness of its model”.”Also the results – Quagliolo says – for the  six packaging material that conai manages are positive: almost all target at 2025 have been overtaken. Only plastic is missing, even if it lags of a few percentage point, easily retrivable during the next 5 years .
