Frequently Asked Questions
Here you can find answers to frequently asked questions about ECOMAVI products.
Read our FAQ and, in case you don’t find what you are looking for, fill in the form below.
PVA and PVOH stands for Polyvinyl Alcohol. It is a chemical compound obtained by hydrolysis, usually alkaline, of polyvinyl esters. Soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents, not permeable for gas.
ECOMAVI's customer base is global. The current shares are 40% for Italy, 40% for Europe (outside Italy) and 20% World (outside EU).
Biodegradable: a polluting chemical product or compound that, when dispersed in the environment, readily decomposes into less polluting compounds through the action of bacteria or other microorganisms. To be considered biodegradable, a product must decompose by 90% within 6 months. Water-soluble: Soluble in water. Compostable: Material that can be placed in organic waste (or wet waste) because it is decomposing together with wet waste into compost. A compostable material must be biodegradable within 3 months and must pass ecotoxicity tests.
Upon request, ECOMAVI can supply material with customised width, length and thickness. The bags can be with or without gussets, with or without tie.

Process
The production of water-soluble articles involves a number of fundamental process steps, each of which requires professionalism, care and specific skills that ECOMAVI has developed and fine-tuned over the past 25 years.
Blending
The production process starts with raw materials that are mixed and transformed into granules suitable for extrusion. Different formulas are used depending on the end result to be obtained and the process for which the finished products are intended.
Extrusion
ECOMAVI water-soluble film is the result of a blown extrusion process. The machine park consists of a series of modern extruders for the production of tubular and monolayer film, which can be customised in terms of width, thickness, mechanical and chemical characteristics.
Packaging
The extruded tubular film is thus separated into reels, trimmed and embossed ready to be packaged, or passes to welding for the production of bags, always customisable in terms of size and thickness.
Finished product
Given the peculiar sensitivity of water-soluble products to environmental conditions, for a better storage and to preserve their chemical and mechanical characteristics, the reels are wrapped in protective film and placed in boxes, the bags are packed into polyethylene bags and placed into boxes.
